Blog for Money

Hello again. I know it has been a long time since I checked in here, but better late than never.

I know that many people are looking for legitimate ways to make a living online. The best program I have found is called Blogging To The Bank. I've devoted a whole web site to it here. Or, you can go directly to the source to find out more.

Qumana Test

Qumana appears to be a neat little program for posting to blogs without going through one's individual blog interface.  If I'm understanding the features correctly, it will allow me to write posts offline for uploading at my pleasure, to cross-post to multiple blogs if I want, and to insert Technorati and other tags more easily than heretofore. And maybe other cool tricks that I haven't yet discovered.  Please bear with me as I run a few test posts.  I'll try to keep them short.

Shameless Self-Promotion

Another site I've built--probably my quirkiest one by far--is Golf In the Year 2000 at www.golf-in-the-year-2000.com. I won't try to explain it here; just check it out for yourself. Even non-golfers seem to enjoy its strangeness.

And, here's a personal page about me: www.mindspring.com/~freedom1/

Hello

I'm not sure why, but this blog suddenly seems to be getting a lot more traffic--even though I have pretty much let go of it since moving on to other projects.

Right now, I'm building the first of what will be a number of web sites devoted to different aspects of anti-aging. The one most recently completed is DHEA for Antiaging, the URL for which is www.dhea-youth.com.

Since Last Week ...

Saw a great reggae group, Jamrock, at an African heritage festival in Cary. More on them later, including some photos. Then was sick the greater part of last week and did not make the Triangle bloggers meetup, among other things. However, I did at last launch my new website presenting the full text of one of the oddest books you're likely ever to read, Golf in the Year 2000. As far as I can determine, I am the first person to put this book on the web where anyone may read it.

Anton's Meetup Report

I would like to link to the blogs of everyone who was at the meetup last night. Maybe one day I'll take the time to do it. Meantime I'll do it the lazy way, with a link to Anton Zuiker's "Blog Together" post on the evening.

Score Another Point for Coffee

According to a news report yesterday, some Japanese researchers are reporting that coffee may help prevent liver cancer. They studied 90,000+ people and found that people who drank coffee daily or nearly every day) had the half the liver cancer risk of those who never drank it. The protective effect was even stronger in those who drank three or four cups a day as opposed to those who only drank one or two. Seems like just a couple of months ago I was reading about how coffee may lower diabetes risk (or help regulate it if you already have it; can't remember the exact finding). The health grinches keep trying to find something really, really bad about coffee, but they can't do it. Maybe I'll start a "Good News About Coffee" blog to keep up with the bottomless pot of positive tidings about my favorite indulgence.

Blogger Meetup Report

I arrived about a half-hour into last night's blogger meetup at Driade's in Chapel Hill (one of my favorite haunts, by the way). A good group of 13 or 14 was still going strong. Lots of good ideas and technical help floating around, and--as someone else pointed out--because Driade's doesn't have wi-fi and no one could blog during the get-together, we all had to actually pay attention to one another. What can I say? It was fun, even for this proud introvert.

Blogger Meetup

Anton Zuiker is pulling together folks for a blogger meetup on Wednesdays in Chapel Hill. The initial venue is Driade's on Franklin Street--possibly my favorite coffee shop. If there's any place around here that captures what I imagine to be the spirit of the beat-era coffee houses, I think Driade's is it. Good excuse to revisit!
